The Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, has reaffirmed his loyalty to the President, saying he never betrayed the confidence Tinubu placed in him.
Gbajabiamila made the statement on Saturday at the 2026 Gbajabiamila Mega Empowerment Programme held at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, where he addressed the allegations that had recently been made against him.
The controversy was linked to investigations into the activities of the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), an organisation described in reports as fictitious. Gbajabiamila was reportedly mentioned in connection with the matter.
According to the Chief of Staff, investigations by relevant authorities, including an inquiry conducted by the House of Representatives, have cleared him of wrongdoing. He said the findings of the investigations were already available to the public.
Reflecting on the controversy, Gbajabiamila said the past few months had been particularly challenging, with allegations and reports questioning his integrity.
He, however, expressed appreciation to the people of Surulere, Lagos State and his supporters across the country for standing by him and insisting that due process should be followed before conclusions were reached.
He said President Tinubu's long-standing relationship with him gave the President sufficient confidence that he was not involved in the alleged activities.
Gbajabiamila also rejected suggestions that the controversy would distract him from his official responsibilities, saying he remained focused on the duties assigned to him by the President.
He warned those allegedly using his name to spread false information or defame others to desist, stressing that legal consequences would eventually follow.
On his relationship with Tinubu, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives said his loyalty to the President had remained constant over the years, even when he did not necessarily agree with every political decision.
According to him, loyalty had always been central to his political relationship with Tinubu. He maintained that he had never questioned the President's leadership or betrayed the confidence placed in him.
Gbajabiamila also reiterated his commitment to supporting the administration's Renewed Hope agenda.
The empowerment programme, according to the Chief of Staff, was designed to benefit about 5,000 residents across communities in Surulere.
Items and assistance provided under the initiative included cash support, vehicles, electric tricycles, buses, security patrol vehicles and an ambulance.
The Lagos State Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, commended Gbajabiamila for maintaining a strong connection with his constituents.
Hamzat also used the gathering to appeal for support for President Tinubu's reelection. He argued that political leadership requires the ability to build and manage a political organisation effectively.
He contrasted Tinubu's political record with that of unnamed opponents, arguing that the President had demonstrated long-term commitment to his political party and had played a significant role in its development.
The event brought together political leaders, community representatives and beneficiaries of the empowerment programme in Surulere.
