News

Marauding gunmen continued to unleash terror in South West Nigeria as abducted a Chinese engineer in Ekiti and killed a traveler and abducted others in Osun States.

The Chinese expatriate was abducted by the gunmen, who are suspected to be herdsmen at Igbemo-Ekiti in Irelodun/ Ifelodun area of Ekiti State.

The Chinese was idenfified as one of the experts in charge of the construction of Ilupeju-Ire-Igbemo-Ijan road.

The gunmen laid an ambush for him at Igbemo-Ekiti as he drove in a Hilux Van, and was taken away to a yet-to-be-determined location by his captors.

This is coming three months after a similar attack at Iyin-Ekiti during which two Chinese overseeing the construction of the new Ado-Iyin road were kidnapped.

In the Osun attack, gunmen killed a  traveler and kidnapped other passengers along Osogbo/Ibokun road, Obokun Local Government Area, of the state.

Sources in the place said the incident happened on Tuesday night near Ajebandele, a village in the Obokun Local Government area, about three kilometres to Osogbo, the state capital.

The Field Commander, Amotekun Corps in Osun, Amitolu Shittu, who was at the scene of the crime, confirmed the incident to The PUNCH on Wednesday.
