Car Bomb Kills Six in Yobe

On New year's eve, a car bomb has killed six persons in Maiduwa village, Fika Local Government Area of Yobe state north east Nigeria.

The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the town confirmed the incident to our reporter that the explosion occurred around 1pm. He explained that the bomber boarded a commercial Volkswagen Golf Car heading from Fika to Potiskum with the explosive devices.

About five kilometres after takeoff, the car ran into an oncoming vehicle, killing six persons on the spot, while also detonating the explosive devices before reaching its target destination, the NURTW official explained.

He also confirmed that the driver of the Volkswagen Golf Car survived, along with another teenager. He said both of them are now receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Fika.
